The ability to vote is a luxury that many Americans take for granted. During elections there are measures that make the ballot in some instances the measure is based on region. The approval of the people to increase taxation or fund some group alter who may receive new resources. This is a form of direct democracy allowing citizens to be an active participant in the political process. The creation of advisory committees, focus groups, and unions can determine the direction campaigns may take on addressing certain issues.
